The first part of the study describes thermography generally as a method for non-destructive testing of a building envelope for thermal and air tightness properties. The study has resulted in a two stage testing method of which pressurizing is an essential part. The field study has shown that thetwo-stage method is suitable in detection of air leakages, showing that the major part of thermal defects in the building envelope are due to air leakages.

Impact of air infiltration and ventilation on energy losses of buildings.

Discusses heat losses from buildings. Calculates proportion of heat loss due to ventilation under simplifying assumptions. Discusses factors influencing air change rates. Calculates energy that could be saved in the republic of Germany by reduction of ventilation under three different assumptions of energy price increases.

Environmental factors in the heating of buildings.

Presents documentative report of findings of research into effect of weather on internal environment in buildings. Presents results to promote their further application. Defines problem as that of applied meteorology and illustrates its distinguishing features. Evaluates physical assumptions made in establishing mathematical model. Notes limitations of results.
