Personalized ventilation (PV) aims at improving ventilation in the immediate breathing zones of occupants in the built environment. It may be a reality in the near future.Flexible PV systems, extending the range of applications within the dynamic movements of individuals in an air-conditioned zone, were examined under the hot and humid tropical conditions in Singapore.17 different environmental conditions have been tested with 11 human subjects that took part in all the experiments and answered questionnaire during each exposure. The results indicate that the use of a secondary PV system in conjunction with a primary air-conditioning system enhances thermal comfort and indoor air quality and also reduces energy consumption by 15-30 %.
