Stratum ventilation - a conceptual introduction

The purpose of the research at the first stage was to find out whether the new ventilation mode - stratum ventilation - is feasible. The system uses a large supply inlets located at the side of a room. A case study, a typical office in Hong Kong is used to illustrate that new mode. In so far as direct measurements are expensive and time consuming, a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) technique was applied, the results show that the system can maintain a better thermal comfort with a smaller temperature difference between the head and foot level, along with a lower energy consumption, and a better IAQ in the breathing zone.
