Airbase

AIRBASE is the Bibliographic Database of the AIVC. It contains publications and abstracts of articles related to energy efficient ventilation. Where possible, sufficient detail is supplied in the bibliographic details for users to trace and order the material via their own libraries. Topics include: ventilation strategies, design and retrofit methods, calculation techniques, standards and regulations, measurement methods, indoor air quality and energy implications etc. Entries are based on articles and reports published in journals, internal publications and research reports, produced both by university departments and by building research institutions throughout the world. AIRBASE has grown and evolved over many years (1979 to present day, over 22000 references and 16000 documents available online). For most of the references, the full document is also available online.

Access to the publications is free of charge.

The presence of airborne contaminants in the production environment can create problems to products, production equipment and personnel.

Indoor climate affects occupational safety and comfort. When indoor climate conditions are on an optimum level, the number of accidents decrease while productivity and quality of the work increase.

There has been lack of fact based knowledge for design and operation of supply air jilter for general ventilation. An Invent multi-component project was started in 1994 to tackle this problem area.
Gustavsson J
Ventilation filters are classified according to the results from standard laboratory tests. These tests, however, produce information which may be insufficient for estimating the true filter performance.
Lehtimaki M, Taipale A
The penetration of cold outdoor air into industrial buildings is a severe problem in countries having a cold, arctic or subarctic climate.
Siren K, Hejazi-Hashemi S
Large premises, such as airport tenninals or international conference centers, have high ceilings and large floor area.
Kim K H, Kang S Y, Lee J H, Oh M D
The present state of ventilation design for industrial premises follows rules of thumb or other rules based on sometimes questionable experience.
Biegert B
In Scandinavia draught, cold and temperature changes are very general problems. About 50-70 % of responders in the questionnaires have reported about these adverse effects and this trend has increased during last decades.
