Airbase

AIRBASE is the Bibliographic Database of the AIVC. It contains publications and abstracts of articles related to energy efficient ventilation. Where possible, sufficient detail is supplied in the bibliographic details for users to trace and order the material via their own libraries. Topics include: ventilation strategies, design and retrofit methods, calculation techniques, standards and regulations, measurement methods, indoor air quality and energy implications etc. Entries are based on articles and reports published in journals, internal publications and research reports, produced both by university departments and by building research institutions throughout the world. AIRBASE has grown and evolved over many years (1979 to present day, over 22000 references and 16000 documents available online). For most of the references, the full document is also available online.

Access to the publications is free of charge.

Natural ventilation has been claimed as suitable for 9 out of 10 offices not severely affected by noise or pollution, claims Andrew Martin.
Martin A
Over 90% of office workers would rather be served by natural ventilation systems, so why is it not normal practice? Many architects and consultants argue that serious technical difficulties make it impossible to implement.

Variable-air-volume systems utilize some of the latest technology available to control zone temperatures and save fan energy. In fact, the energy savings can be quite substantial.
Kukla M D
A field study investigated outside air delivery and thermal comfort in a normally operating variable-air-volume (VA V) system.
Maki K S, Chamberlin G A, Li Z, Christianson L L
Fast development of computer technology and the greater use of it in all spheres of activity have caused the development of software support in the field of HV AC systems.
Zelenko B
The faults during design and installation phases are more critical with cooling systems than with normal HY AC systems: direct evaporated systems in particular require experienced engineers and mechanics.

Dynamic simulation of a seawater-cooled chilling system is performed by using the dynamic models of centrifugal chillers, heat exchangers, seawater and chilled water networks, cooling coil, actuator, sensor, variable-speed pump and DDC controller
Wang S, Wang J, Burnett J
The draft of the European prestandard 17 52, entitled "Ventilation for buildings – Design criteria for the indoor environment" is intended to be a flexible tool for assisting the designer in providing a proper indoor environment for people in vent
Nouwynck J
The flow-pressure characteristics of the AHU/VAV air-conditioning system in an open-plan office building is assessed by site experiments under various conditions.
Wang S, Burnett J
The detailed dynamic simulation of coupled units in HVAC-systems and buildings is gaining increasing importance as strong tool in HVAC-engiiieering and operation.
