Developing regulations to improve the energy efficiency of buildings in Arabian Gulf countries | 2006 | English
As in other parts of the world, building legislation has been used since the 1980s by governmentbodies in the Arabian Gulf countries.
Daylighting in Schools: Technology, Energetical, Economical and Environmental Impact | 2006 | English
The paper describes the transfer of technology appropriated from the social, economical andenvironmental point of view in schools at the province of Mendoza (South latitude 32, 53, Westlongitude 68 51, semi-arid climate) placed at the Southwest re
A Study of Subjective Assessment: Hybrid Lighting with Automatic Control or Traditional Lighting with Manual Control? | 2006 | English
In order to compare a hybrid lighting system with automatic control to a traditional lighting system withmanual control, a subjective assessment study was carried out in two rooms at the TechnicalUniversity of Istanbul.
Dynamic Moisture Behaviour of Materials for Integration into Whole Building Heat Air and Moisture Simulation | 2006 | English
Indoor humidity is an important parameter influencing the occupants’ perception of indoor air quality, and is also a cause of harmful processes that may occur on surfaces of materials, such as cracking of walls or microbiological growth.
The present paper presents the results of the application of cluster analysis in the energy rating ofschool buildings.
To achieve the intended results of building, managing and using a property requires knowledge, continuity and communication, which can be assured by a dynamic and flexible quality assurance(QA) system.
Control of the Ep-Regulation in 3 French Regions: Approach and Preliminary Results on 29 Buildings | 2006 | English
This paper focuses on energy performance compliance checks to the French EP-regulation RT 2000 and the way they are performed in Rhône-Alpes, Burgundy, and Franche-Comté.
CO2 Emission and Energy Saving Potential through Correct Pipe Insulation of Space Heating and Domestic Hot Water Distribution Systems in the New and Existing Buildings | 2006 | English
In March 2003 a “CO2 - Saving Potential when using Pipe Insulation” study [1], sponsored by Armacell - worldwide producer of flexible pipe insulation products, was published by the Centre for Environmentally Sustainable Buildings (ZUB) in Kassel.
Handling Thermal Bridges in the Context of the EPBD: Description of the Approach Developed in Belgium | 2006 | English
Within the context of an energy performance regulation, it is essential to take the transmission lossesinto account. If building details are not well designed or carried out, thermal bridges can substantiallyincrease the transmission losses.
Identification of the Physical Parameters of an Experimental Solar House in Tunisia | 2006 | English
This paper presents the application of multi-inputs single-output (MISO) models to estimate thethermophysicals parameters of a building.
The paper describes results of a Preliminary Study for the Plan of Quality of Living (PSPQL) of a townin the hinterland of Milan, conducted by an interdisciplinary group of researchers, involving alsofacilitators, town councillors, administrators,
The utilization factor is a relative well-known concept used in some simplified calculation methodssuch as the procedure described in the CEN EN-13790 where the FU depends on the inertia of thezone.
According to the Article 6 of the 2002/91/EC – EP “when buildings with a total useful floor area over 1000 m2 undergo major renovation their energy performance is upgraded in order to meet minimum requirements ….” which should be derived “…in acco
Study of a Photovoltaic-Thermal Hybrid Collector with Juxtaposition of Thermal Energy Production Functions | 2006 | English
This work proposes a mathematical dynamic modeling of a PV-T bi-fluids collector prototype that willpermit electricity production and preheating air and/or hot water production. This study is realised in a bi-dimensional geometry according to some
Investigation of the Solar and Thermal Properties of Materials Used in Outdoor Urban Spaces and Buildings | 2006 | English
This paper aims to report the solar and thermal data for various common and innovative materialsused in outdoor urban applications. The tested materials include various types of coatings, tiles andasphalt pavement.
Multi-layers polycarbonate panels are naturally good thermal insulation materials.
Energy and Exergy Analysis of Integrated Systems of Buildings and District Energy Plants | 2006 | English
The purpose of the paper is to influence governments throughout the world to achieve massiveimprovements in energy and exergy performance in their respective countries by legislation and otherpolicy instruments keyed to the overall or integrated e
Recent studies predict a dramatic increase of cooling energy demand in Europe, despite the availableknowledge and technologies of passive cooling.
The combined heat, cooling and power production (CHCP) is one of the most interesting methods toincrease the system global efficiency by supplying electric and thermal power needs both in winter andin summer, and at the same time reducing CO2 emis
