Building system engineering can help decrease the risk of being infected by the aerosol which contains virus-laden droplet nuclei. Many techniques can help decrease the concentrations of particles. This paper focuses on the economic renovation of the existing ventilation system of a public commercial space, a small meeting room in Kuijpers, Leiden, to decrease airborne transmission of respiratory infectious diseases.

The objective of this study is to measure the impact of various classes of filters in the HVAC system on the IAQ in an office building. It aims at understanding outdoor-indoor concentrations and filtration relashionships in order to guide filtration system designs.
Activated carbon filters have been used forpurification of air and water in industrialapplications. However these technologies have notbeen applied to the non-industrial builtenvironment in general and there is no standard toquantify or to classify the performance of thesesystems for in-duct mechanical systemapplication.
Air filters may be used to reduce indoor airborne concentration which is one of the main indoor air pollutants. Air filters performances have to be measured in order to be able to select the right product for a given application. But differences do exist between laboratory and field filter test results and HVAC installations have to be controlled regularly. EUROVENT 4/10 recommendation describes guidelines for the evaluation of the perpromances of HVAC air filters according to particle size in an installation.
