This paper discusses research conducted to determine the status of indoor air chemicalpollution caused by formaldehyde in government offices in 2001. This research involvedmeasurements of formaldehyde concentration and questionnaires on the office rooms inapproximately 300 buildings. The following conclusions were drawn from this study.(1) The factors such as the use and the conditions of usage of buildings affect formaldehydeconcentration more significantly than the size of buildings and rooms.(2) The year of construction and the number of stories can be correlated to the concentrationto some extent. This is a topic for further study in the future.
