In most countries nowadays, concepts of climatization and natural ventilation are considered essential aspects of any building project. However they are also used to ensure indoor air quality and summer thermal comfort. There are many other advantages to be gained such as reductions in energy use and noise levels and easier plant maintenance. In recent years, hybrid ventilation systems in office buildings have been used increasingly. This study aims to evaluate the fluidodynamic phenomena produced by the running of the air conditioning and natural ventilation system in an innovative building, built in central Italy, to optimize the energy use and to produce thermal comfort conditions. This building has been studied and data based on the main fluidodynamic parameters of the air have been recorded. This data has been correlated to external parameters, such as solar radiation, wind speed and direction, in order to verify the indoor conditions because of the energetic behaviour of building and to the outdoor environment. The use of an automated apparatus for indoor data acquisition, a microclimatic station and a meteorological station equipped with the probes to measure the external environmental parameters have allowed this research to be undertaken. The experimental data equivalent to a monitoring year is reported.
