A suggested standard methodology for the assessment of the performance of domestic ventilation systems.

The monitoring of the performance of domestic ventilation systems is quite a complex exercise. A wide variety of parameters must be taken into account in order that a suitable assessment of performance may be made - in many cases, insufficient data is collected. Even when the data has been collected, it is often the case that comparison of results from different studies is made very difficult due to variations in the treatment and presentation of the data. At worst, it may even be the case that a meaningful comparison may be impossible on the basis of the form in which the results are presented, even though sufficient raw data exists for a more satisfactory comparison to be made, given an alternative analytical treatment. This paper presents a suggested methodology for a standard assessment procedure suitable for the collection and processing of data which is intended to demonstrate the performance of domestic ventilation systems. The process is illustrated by means of a simple example.
