Airbase

AIRBASE is the Bibliographic Database of the AIVC. It contains publications and abstracts of articles related to energy efficient ventilation. Where possible, sufficient detail is supplied in the bibliographic details for users to trace and order the material via their own libraries. Topics include: ventilation strategies, design and retrofit methods, calculation techniques, standards and regulations, measurement methods, indoor air quality and energy implications etc. Entries are based on articles and reports published in journals, internal publications and research reports, produced both by university departments and by building research institutions throughout the world. AIRBASE has grown and evolved over many years (1979 to present day, over 22000 references and 16000 documents available online). For most of the references, the full document is also available online.

Access to the publications is free of charge.

BRE has developed a new technique for measuring time-averaged ventilation rates in occupied buildings using a perfluorocarbon tracer gas.
Walker R R, White M K
It is possible to make high wall inducing vents with low air resistance, combined with natural ventilation or a mechanical exhaust.
van den Engel P J W
The indoor-outdoor comparison of volatile organic compounds was made in 52 private homes in the City of Munich, Germany. The VOC concentrations were measured by trapping with activated charcoal tubes and analyzed by capillary GC.
Gebefuegi I L, Loerinci G, Kettrup A
In most cities, vehicles are the main sources of pollutants. The concentration of pollutants is then known to vary with traffic intensity.
Kjaerboe P, Burt T
ASHRAE's definition of acceptable indoor air quality demands air in which there are no known contaminants at harmful concentrations and air with which a substantial majority (usually 80 %) of the people exposed do not express dissatisfaction.
Bischof W, Herzog V, Finke U, Fitzner K, Clausen G, Reichel C
The European Collaborative Action (ECA) on indoor air quality (IAQ) and its impact on man deals with all aspects of the indoor environment including temperature, humidity and other environmental factors which may interact with IAQ.
McLaughlin J, Knoppel H
Heating ventilating and air conditioning (HV AC) duct insulation in a county government facility in south Florida USA was removed because of heavy fungal infestation of the building.
Price D L, Ezeonu M, Simmons R B, Morey P R, Ahearn D G
A new mechanical ventilation system which continuously controlled the indoor-outdoor pressure difference was installed in six houses, where the long-term radon levels ranged from 670 to 3 080 Bq/m3. When the new system had operated for
Kokotti H, Kalliokoski P
During the past 10 years the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has pursued a national strategy to address radon remediation in buildings to meet its goals of radon risk reduction.
Dyess T M, DeScisciolo S
The performance of a ventilation system, particularly that which is incorporated in centralised air-conditioning system, can be evaluated in several ways.
Sekhar S C, Tham K W
In order to improve the indoor air quality a change in the ventilation system is often one of the actions. The mean ventilation effectiveness or contaminant removal effectiveness is then often presented as a measure.
