Airbase

AIRBASE is the Bibliographic Database of the AIVC. It contains publications and abstracts of articles related to energy efficient ventilation. Where possible, sufficient detail is supplied in the bibliographic details for users to trace and order the material via their own libraries. Topics include: ventilation strategies, design and retrofit methods, calculation techniques, standards and regulations, measurement methods, indoor air quality and energy implications etc. Entries are based on articles and reports published in journals, internal publications and research reports, produced both by university departments and by building research institutions throughout the world. AIRBASE has grown and evolved over many years (1979 to present day, over 22000 references and 16000 documents available online). For most of the references, the full document is also available online.

Access to the publications is free of charge.

Rotating brushes are commonly used in cleaning air ducts. A very simple model simulating the behaviour of a typical brush bristle is presented.
Holopainen R., Salonen E.M.
A supply air window enables the pre-heating in winter of ventilation air before it enters the room. The window device must entrain into the room the air flow that would otherwise escape, it allows the absorption of the solar radiant energy and a lo
McEvoy M.E., Southall R.G., Baker P.H.
The aim of that study is to establish characteristic building parameters and to analyse the night ventilation effect with these parameters. Measurements were made thanks to a parametric model and a building simulation programme.
Pfafferott J., Herkel S., Jäschke M.
Designing an HVAC system has different aims, the first one is to satisfy the user with a long-term functioning system in the most energy efficient way and the second is to increase the supply air flow.
Engdahl F., Svensson A.
This paper reports mainly on field studies were indoor overnight CO2 levels are monitored along with outdoor ventilation rates in bedrooms where room air conditioners are employed. The results of laboratory experiments using two typical RACs (room

Thermal desorption (TD) is a readily automated gas extraction technology based on standard gas chromatography parameters and providing an efficient, high-sensitivity alternative to convential solvent extraction.
Woolfenden E.
The variety of quality labels and classifications dealing with emission into indoor air require many similar tests to be done if a company wants to apply for more than one these.
Oppl R.
Building products, furniture and other products used indoor influence the indoor air quality. This implies that ventilation is not the only method to ensure good IAQ.
Saarela K., Tirkkonen T., Villberg K.
Very important issue for all activities for better IAQ in Finland has been the introduction of the classification guidelines for indoor air quality and climate.
Kukkonen E.
The effect on Indoor Air Quality of painting at home while resident stays at home has been discussed. This paper presents a case study of the effects.
Rosell L., Ek-olausson B., Lundgren B.
The reduction of organic emissions from materials within the vehicle interior has noticeably contributed to the comfort of automobile customers over a period of approximately 20 years.
Herrman K.
Odors of new cars are important today for the consumers’ comfort and sensory analysis techniques are necessary to deal with that question.
Nesa D., Couderc S.
Infiltration has traditionally been assumed to contribute to the energy load of a building by an amount equal to the product of the infiltration flow rate and the enthalpy difference between inside and outside.
Walker, I.S., Sherman, M.H.
Ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) had been used with success to decontaminate the air in hospital operating rooms and ventilation systems.
Menzies D., Popa J., Hanley J.A., Rand T., Milton D.K.
Over the past decade, there has been extreme media attention to issues about mold and allegedlyadverse effects.
Pirages S.W.
The necessity to make waterproof sanitary water ducts or central heating tubing and to make airtight natural gas distribution tubing is of primary importance to both construction professionals and the public.
