Airbase

AIRBASE is the Bibliographic Database of the AIVC. It contains publications and abstracts of articles related to energy efficient ventilation. Where possible, sufficient detail is supplied in the bibliographic details for users to trace and order the material via their own libraries. Topics include: ventilation strategies, design and retrofit methods, calculation techniques, standards and regulations, measurement methods, indoor air quality and energy implications etc. Entries are based on articles and reports published in journals, internal publications and research reports, produced both by university departments and by building research institutions throughout the world. AIRBASE has grown and evolved over many years (1979 to present day, over 22000 references and 16000 documents available online). For most of the references, the full document is also available online.

Access to the publications is free of charge.

The heterogeneous photocatalysis relies on the activation of a half-conductor.

The excitation of pulsed plasmas for the air treatment (odors, toxic and volatile gases suppression, and sterilization) needs fast high electric pulse generators with powers that can require high repetition frequencies according to the applicati
Micheron F, Roche M, Billaud V, Vervisch P.
The new French regulation about energy performance of buildings (RT 2000) specifies airtighness criterion for ventilation network. The author gives a methodology to measure the overall airtighness of ventilation installations on site.
Barles P
Results of on site measurements in office buildings relative to the performance characteristics of five ventilation networks are presented. The poor air tightness is responsible for defects and bad performance.
Carrie F R
Air tighness of ventilation network is very important, so the manufacturers have developped sets of new sealed fittings. These new equipments have been tested in CETIAT laboratory.
Vialle P J
The french standard NF S 90-351 has been modified to include a wider field of application. This standard now takes into account previsional aspects. It is needed to define "areas at risk", and materials and equipment performances.
Rambour F
Comments about the project of the new french standard NF S 90-351 "Clean rooms and related controlled environments in medical establishments" and the consequences on the design approach of clean rooms to master airborne contamination are given.
Allehaux D
In hospitals, legionella, humidification and indoor air quality can be mastered with simple technical equipment.
Roger C H
For hospitals, air filtration is obviously a very important point in the control of nosocomial infections. A strategy and reference points are presented .
Vanhee J M
Air networks are very important in indoor air quality of the patient environment. Qualitative and quantitative criteria for the design, installation and maintenance of the air network must be defined in the project.
Mousny F
After a review of CFD models and a simplified (zonal) models predictions, a simplified procedure, based on charts and non dimensional groups, is proposed in order to evaluate the ventilation rate through an open vertical window.
Frascatoro G V, Mutani G, Perino M
Five air terminal devices (ATD) have been tested in a typical office workplace with a breathing thermal manikin. Tracer gas used to identify the amount of air inhaled and the amount of exhaled air re-inhaled.
Melikov A K, Cermak R, Majer M
The authors have developed a whole-field measuring technique that allows the visualization of air temperatures and airflow patterns over a large cross-section.
Cehlin M, Moshfegh B, Sandberg M
The current design standard BS EN ISO 7730 is based upon the work of Fanger dated 1995, dealing with a steady-state human heat balance model that leads to a prediction of the sensation of human thermal comfort for a given set of thermal condition
Loveday D L, Parsons K C, Taki A H, Hodder S G
This article presents the numerical study of the influence of louvers, such as those of a venetian blind, on heat transfer from an adjacent vertical surface, such as the indoor side of a window. The physical model used is described.
Collins M, Harrison S J, Naylor D, Oosthuizen P H
Measurements of temperature and local heat flux were operated on a vertical surface, such as a window, equipped with louvers, such as those of a venetian blind, for different window temperatures, irradiation levels, louver to window spacings and l
Collins M, Harrison S J, Naylor D, Oosthuizen P H
Describes the two main systems used for ventilation heat recovery : static air-to-air plate heat exchangers, air to air rotary wheel heat exchangers. Indicates briefly their main characteristics.

A new Adaptive Comfort Standard is included in the recently accepted revisions to Ashrae standard 55. That ACS permits warmer indoor temperatures for naturally ventilated buildings during summer and in warmer climate zones.
De Dear R J, Brager G S
On account of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), large proportions of workers suffer from eye and respiratory discomfort or headaches. In a small-scale painting process, efficient ventilation system must be provided for human health.
